Have a question about Lung Health Checks? Below you’ll find answers to some of the most frequently asked questions.

Hull was selected as a pilot site for the NHS Targeted Lung Health Check programme in 2019 because the city has one of the highest lung cancer mortality rates in England, and statistics have shown that lung disease was too often detected at a later stage.

The Lung Health Check programme then received extra funding to deliver the service in North East Lincolnshire from early 2023, as it is the next highest area in the Humber and North Yorkshire region for lung cancer mortality rates.

It is expected that the programme will be rolled out in North Lincolnshire in 2024 and across all remaining parts of Humber and North Yorkshire (East Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and the city of York) by 2026/27.

The programme is funded by NHS England and part of the national NHS ambition to improve early diagnosis and survival rates for those diagnosed with cancer.
